Day 1 - Goderich to Heron Line(Auburn)

Today was the beginning of an adventure.  My dad has a bucket list of trails that he would like to hike.  For those who don't know my dad, there isn't a lot that will hold him back.  He decided a while ago that he would like to tackle the G2G Rail Trail.

The G2G rail trail is a trail that follows the old railway from Goderich to Guelph. The total distance is 127km.

We plan to hike the whole trail this summer. He has gone through and planned each day that we hike - the distance, where we will park vehicles, snacks (Mars bars being his favourite), etc.

Today, we tackled the first portion of the trail.

We were unsure how the girls would last.  They started with LOTS of enthusiasm!
As we hiked, we saw interesting wildlife and scenery.

Each marker brought new emotions....

As we reached the last few kilometres, energy levels were beginning to drain.  Everything in Anneka's body was beginning to hurt. She was hungry, she was thirsty, she was hot, she was cold.

As Olivia was walking, she noticed something along the side of the trial.  It was a spike from the railway.

Well, one let to another, to another to another.... This definitely helped with the energy level.  Everyone began looking for spikes.

We were all very excited to see the final marker of the day. (13.2km)
